This type of survey is less common than the management survey and is conducted prior to any construction work, in particular; refurbishment and demolition. Current legislation states that site specific information must be made available to all contractors and construction personnel about the presence of asbestos enabling the risks associated to be addressed.

The Refurbishment & Demolition Survey is to be completed before any work is carried out, and will locate and describe all asbestos containing materials in the area or building as far as is reasonably practicable.

The Survey will be of a destructive and intrusive nature in order to gather as much information as possible on any asbestos containing products within the scope of the refurbishment or demolition and would not normally affect other areas, unless the survey was of course a complete site or Building.
